Switzerland, the 4th best place in the world to study!

To establish the ranking, educations.com surveyed over 30’000 international students to determine which factors they consider the most important when choosing a study abroad programme.

In the recently published official 2020 rankings by educations.com, Switzerland was named #4 in the “Top 10 Places In The World To Study Abroad”.

The following 7 factors were identified in this year’s survey:

  1. To achieve my career goals
  2. To develop myself personally
  3. To experience a new culture or lifestyle
  4. To access higher quality teaching
  5. To have an adventure
  6. To make new friends or widen my professional network
  7. To learn a new language

Switzerland has moved up the rankings from its #8 position in 2019, and for a good reason!

We have complied some highlights on what makes Switzerland such an attractive study abroad destination:

Incredible career opportunities

Switzerland offers an array of career opportunities, both in the private and public sectors:

Fun fact: the country boasts one of the highest concentrations of  restaurants per capita in the world!

Cultural diversity

Foreigners make up 25% of the population in Switzerland, largely thanks to the country’s attractiveness for expats and foreign students.

Private higher education institutions are especially diverse. Swiss Education Group, for example, boasts over 110 nationalities studying and living together on campus in its 5 hospitality management schools. This is an amazing opportunity to be exposed to different cultures and backgrounds and make friends from all over the world, while getting to know the local ways of life.

High quality hospitality education

Swiss education is consistently recognized for its quality. With Switzerland considered the birthplace of hospitality, it is no surprise that the Swiss hospitality education specifically is highly regarded by potential students, their parents and employers alike.

Switzerland’s standard of living and good working conditions attracts top teaching talent with many years of experience and a passion for sharing their knowledge with the next generations.

Many Swiss hospitality management schools have long-standing collaboration agreements with national and international hospitality organisations, an arrangement that benefits both the students and the partner organisations.

Industry partners contribute to the creation of academic programmes, come in for guest lectures and host visits to their premises to provide students additional insights into real-life operations. Many companies also hire interns and management trainees from the partner hospitality schools who go on to build successful careers.

Multilingual environment

Most people in Switzerland speak at least 2 foreign languages, which is not difficult to imagine considering that the country has 4 national languages (German, French, Italian and Romansch). English is widely spoken too. This creates the perfect environment for learning a new language.

Doing an industry internship in Switzerland during your studies is one of the best ways to practice a new language learnt during the academic semester. Hospitality management interns find themselves immersed in the local language while getting valuable hands-on experience.

There are many more reasons why Switzerland has its rightful place in the “Top 10 Places In The World To Study Abroad”, but don’t just take our word for it!
